What better way to start this journey of books and coffee than with The Alchemist? If you haven’t read it yet, please do. If it’s been a while, read it again. It’s the kind of book you’ll want to make sure you have a spare copy on the shelf, just in case a friend in need is going through a tough time and you want to pass the journey along. This is a book that reminds us of hope. More than anything, a good book reawakens a spark that resides deep within us all and Paulo Coelho is an expert at this. While The Alchemist is arguably his best writing, each Coelho novel is an adventure into our inner worlds and helps us face the paths in front of us, whether that be of a spiritual nature or the everyday questions about the choices we make. We’re excited you’re here to join the journey!

The Best of Paulo:
1. Why, The Alchemist of course. Our favorites are the most current edition, the 25th anniversary, and also the design of the 10th anniversary edition is lovely. Though other variations are stand-up too if you're not one to judge by the cover (get it?! get it?! oy.)

To get real wild, The Alchemist also comes as a graphic novel.

A story of an unusual woman told by accounts from those who knew her. As Paulo himself put it, “It is about a person who is ahead of her time who has to fight the prejudices related to this.” It is about a woman on a spiritual journey to find her true self, all the while finding the courage to be true to herself.
3. Brida
A young Irish woman goes on a quest of spiritual learning and magic to find her destiny, learning to balance her desire to become a witch with her relationships. It is a story of passion, love, and spirituality.

4. 11 Minutes
When it comes down to it, 11 minutes is the amount of time most people take to have sex. This book is an exploration of sex and its power over us. It is the story of Maria, a woman who turns to prostitution to make a living and what she uncovers about herself along the way.

5. Aleph
Aleph takes us on a journey through Asia in 2006 on the Trans-Siberian Railway. An autobiographical account of Coelho’s own journey, it is a story of the spirit and his own epiphany.

All of Coelho’s writings are laden with spiritual motifs, reminding us to be brave, even when our world is turned upside down. Each book offers a particular introspection, and even when the writing veers on cliche, Coelho’s ability to uncover something special within each of us is tirelessly enthralling.
